Where Am I Wearing?
Let your mind wonder
Blood, Sweat, and T-shirts
When I was in Cambodia and China I heard rumblings about a BBC reality show/documentary that followed young Brits as they worked in a sweatshop in India. The first episode of Blood, Sweat, and T-shirts aired last week.
“I don’t understand. Why don’t you just go to night school.”
“There’s like Poo on the floor” in the slums of Mumbai
Cotton: A fashion revelation or “I ain’t carrying that!” or “Do I look like an ork to you!”

this is good timing for you. You can capitalize on the show’s buzz.

Kent, I passed this info onto my editor. I’m not sure if or when the book will be available in the UK so, I suspect, that whatever buzz the show creates will probably have subsided by then. However, the topic isn’t one going away so I wouldn’t be surprised if something else related is buzzing by then.

Maybe your release date will coincide with the DVD release of Blood, Sweat, and T-shirts.

Hey Kelsey,
It was a very good episode last night, down load it on BBC iplayer or read about it at the Impactt blog http://www.impacttlimited.com/2008/05/14/blood-sweat-and-t-shirts-coming-face-to-face-with-child-labour/

Martin, Thanks for the info. I don’t think it’s possible yet to download the video from the BBC in the US, but I enjoyed reading Impactt’s take on the final episode. Too bad the series wasn’t longer. I can see the need for displaying the naive preconceptions at the beginning, but it had to be hard to get from them to the larger complex issues surrounding the industry. At least they tried.
